The Financial Institutions Group (FIG) is one of the major industry groups at IFC, responsible for managing roughly 40% of IFCs overall business in terms of volume and capital at risk. FIG engages in a wide range of sub-sectors including Microfinance, SME, Gender, Climate, Insurance, Capital Markets, Housing, Distressed Assets, and other areas, with both investment and advisory services delivered to IFCs clients through IFCs global network.
The FIG Upstream/Advisory Unit seeks to create opportunities for new private sector led investments in the region by developing a pipeline of investment-ready opportunities made possible using distinct tools and interventions, including investment structuring, advisory and policy reform. The objective of the unit will be to enhance the next generation of FIG investments across priority sectors in the region.
In this context, IFC is seeking a highly motivated Operations Analyst, to be based in Sao Paulo, Brazil or Bogota, Colombia. The candidate must be a self-starter, capable of taking initiative to cover a range of tasks, able to thrive in a small, entrepreneurial team/environment and be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
Duties and Accountabilities:
Support the Regional Lead for Advisory Services in the implementation of existing programs and the development of new programs in Brazil and elsewhere in LAC
Provide research and analysis on relevant sectors, markets and companies
Collect and organize M&E data
Extract data from internal and external databases, manipulate and present data for various audiences and update/maintain information in relevant databases.
Review, screen and prepare relevant documents and reports for internal and external use
Provide any other assistance needed by the Regional Lead for the day-to-day coordination of activities in the region
Selection Criteria
Bachelors degree and at least 3 years of relevant experience in Latin America and the Caribbean
Experience working in the agricultural sector
Strong qualitative, quantitative and analytical skills to gather and organize information and resources, compile data and prepare statistics, and to synthesize knowledge from diverse sources of information
Demonstrates active listening skills by being attentive and listening to others in order to identify client and stakeholder needs
Write in a logical and comprehensive, yet concise manner
Distill and summarize large amounts of information from various sources to prepare business documents and presentations
Team player with good problem solving and analytical skills, with an ability to execute tasks timely and effectively
Advanced skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint (STATA a plus)
Strong command over English (written and verbal) and Portuguese is a must. Fluency in other languages such as Spanish or French is a plus
Willingness to travel as needed
